Dear Valy, I and my children thank you very much for this video. We are very happy that we have the same custom. We see that your decorated sticks are much modern from our surovaknitsi. Tomorrow we will do surovankitsi as they are done by our grandparents - with threads, dried fruits and popcorn. We will take a picture and show them to you. Christmas and New Year greetings from Bulgaria

Thank you, Svetla. Sorcova is made of fir tree branches , decorated with bells,tinsel,...
My students enjoyed watching your pupils and we decided to recite Sorcova to you and show you that there were similarities between our traditions.

It's very nice!
When i was a little child i used to sing a song by the end of the year and by the new year. Children sang all around the village wishing a happy new year and at the end, the listners gave us some coins.
We call it "janeiras" because the song is sung by January.
Nowadays, not so many people do that, but some regions still do it.
