This is a space to share outcomes from an eTwinning project between several schools in Europe.
Our pupils are from 6 to 12 years old and our team intend to share songs that children sing in their childhood, songs that all of us learn from our parents and grandparents and also in schools and much more...
This is one of the tradiconal songs («janeiras», in portuguese) that some people used to sing by january and today, the King's Day.
People still wish all the best for the new year and the Christmas season ends.
Hello friends from Portugal! I do not know your language, but I guess that song is a wish for health, luck and happiness throughout the year. I really thank you for sharing this tradition with us. Our songs on 1 January called SURVAKARSKI songs. We not only sing, but carry in our hands, specially decorated sticks - surovaknitsi. We learned from Waly that in Romania they have the same tradition - to sing with decorated twigs. You in Portugal also have special songs for January. We're alike in our traditions more than we differ. This sounds great! This is real happiness may know this fact!
